London Spotlight: John Sandoe Books

I had gotten off of work early and decided to make a day of it. I immediately set off and decided to hit up an area of London that I had been meaning to visit for a while, Victoria. From there I made my way to several different restaurants and cafes, all of which will be featured in a later post, and then I walked to Sloan Square in hopes of going to the Saatchi Gallery.

Well, unfortunately the gallery was closed (still not sure why but they weren’t letting people in and it wasn’t even closing time). I kept walking. It was then, as I walked to the bus stop to head home, that I looked right to cross the street, and I saw the sign for John Sandoe Books. Being the book lover that I am, I obviously could not resist the temptation and beelined towards the sign.

I was in awe of the outside, but the inside was even more spectacular. Floor to ceiling bookshelves. Sliding bookshelves. Books on books on books!! I was in absolute heaven and did not want to leave. In all honestly I probably spent like almost an hour in here which doesn’t seem like long but the store is not that big and I was basically just browsing and taking videos and pictures. The staff was also really friendly! I didn’t ask for any book recs but I definitely will next time. A couple of people came into the store asking the staff for recommendations and they were so helpful. If you’re ever in London I 100% recommend this bookstore. It’s quaint with a great selection and just look at it –  It is absolutely gorgeous!
