Hawaii Itinerary: 3 Days in Maui

Maui, the island of sunsets. Not sure if that’s actually what it’s called but that’s the name I’m giving it. The last stop in our Hawaii adventure and what an ending. The sunset marks the end of the day so it’s only fitting this is where we end our Hawaii portion of the adventure. If I’m being honest I didn’t know what to expect before going to Maui cause it was never really on my radar outside of the words Adam Sandler and honeymoon, but there’s so much to do on this island and not nearly enough time! I definitely would have wished for at least another day here.

HOT TIPS FOR MAUI

Book your hotel far in advance. Hotels in Maui are SUPER expensive.
A car here is definitely a bit easier to find compared to Kauai, but expect to shell out some money as all of Hawaii is seeing a surge in tourism right now.
Don’t bother going to JAWS unless it’s Winter and the swells are definitely going to be high.
Definitely do the Haleakala National Park Hike for sunrise or sunset!

DAY 1

Check in to Lumeria Maui – yoga retreat vibes rather than luxury hotel.
Drive to Lahaina (sunset pics!)
Star Noodles for dinner (Adam Sandler’s fave spot)

DAY 2

Better Things Cafe
Road to Hana! This will take several hours if you’re driving from Paia and plan on making stops. We left our hotel around 11am and we should have left earlier to have more time at each spot and be back before it’s dark out.
○ Twin Falls Trail (must have sugarcane juice!) (mile marker 1)
○ Huelo Lookout (Snack at the fruit stand!) (mile marker 4)
○ Coconut Glen’s
○ Nahiku Marketplace (Mile Marker 29)
○ Red Sand Beach
Dinner at Milagros in Paia (Mexican)
Twin Falls
Huelo Lookout
Red Sand Beach

DAY 3

Hike Haleakala National Park (either for 3am sunrise or sunset). You need to book a ticket 2 days in advance.
Turtle Bay Beach – great beach to relax + close to airport.
JAWS Beach (only go if Winter time and check the weather for the day to see if there’s waves).
Paia Bowls (get the Acai Surf Bowl!)
