Book Description:

You’re not supposed to want the one who torments you.

When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn’t prepared for how much of a jerk he’d be.

I hated that he took it out on me because he didn’t want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.

At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. Then, things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.

Just as quickly as he’d come into my life, he was gone back to California.

It had been years since I’d seen Elec.

When tragedy struck our family, I’d have to face him again.

And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.

I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.

Stepbrother Dearest is a standalone novel.

**Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+

Giselle’s Review:

Stepbrother Dearest is my first novel by Penelope Ward and I am just totally hooked to her writing after reading this novel! Before starting this novel, I was in the mood for an angst-filled, sexy, well-written read, and that is exactly what I got from Stepbrother Dearest.

Stepbrother Dearest has so many things that I love in a novel so here it goes:

A sexy, witty, jerk. Elec is a chiseled, tattooed badass that I could just drool over for hours. His sarcasm, wit, and humor will win you over from the first time you meet him. Elec is far from perfect, he will piss you off – a lot, but somehow, he makes you fall in love with him; as most greatly-written, asshole, male character’s do. <3

This novel’s got CHEM-IS-TRY. The chemistry between Elec and Greta was just off the charts amazing. It demanded to be felt, and I most definitely felt it. The progression of their relationship had me totally ‘swooning’ and just made me fall in love with them that much sooner.

The dialogue Penelope Ward creates just deserved a thousand golden stars and A-pluses. Elec and Greta literally had me laughing out loud and Elec actually made my jaw freaking drop a couple times. Whenever Elec did something particualry scandelous, which was more often than not, I would actually say/yell. “Oh my god no he didn’t!”. THAT is how invested I became to these characters.

“Keep the change, or rather, change into these. I’m guessing your current ones are a little wet.”

That quote alone should tell you enough about the steam factor in this novel. If you couldn’t guess, this novel’s very, very hot. Elec is pretty much sexual perfection on two legs, so this novel is obviously going to be sex-ay!

The writing style and plot of this novel was also extremely-freaking-good. Stepbrother Dearest is divided into two parts, and I absolutely loved the fact that in part two we get to go a bit inside Elecs’ head. That was probably my favorite aspect of part two, and if it weren’t for the amazingly witty and sexy comebacks in part one I’d probably say my favorite part of the entire book. However, Elec and Greta’s banter over cigarettes and underwear will forever have my heart. <3

I most definitely recommend Stepbrother Dearest to anyone looking for a incredible, sexy, angst-filled read, about a tattooed, sexy, asshole, and an incredibly sweet, at-times naive, but extremely lovable girl. I will definitely not be forgetting the roller-coaster ride Penelope Ward took me with Elec and Greta, and I am certain you won’t forget it either. 🙂
