Hopeless Book Lover

The paperback edition for HWBMR is HERE! I am seriously loving this cover because I think the overall vibe of it meshes a lot better with the story line and I love when you can connect cover and book. I’ve posted my review from when I first read the book, purchase links, and some extra info about a giveaway you can enter! Enjoy!! xx

A woman who almost had it all…

On the surface, Celine Gonzalez had everything a twenty-eight-year-old woman could want: a one-bedroom apartment on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, a job that (mostly) paid the bills, and an acceptance letter to the prestigious Hollingsworth Institute of Art, where she would finally live out her dream of becoming an antiques appraiser for a major auction house. All she had worked so hard to achieve was finally within her reach. So why would she kill herself?

A man who was supposed to be her salvation…

Maggie Sparkes arrives in New York City to pack up what’s left of her best friend’s belongings after a suicide that has left everyone stunned. The police have deemed the evidence conclusive: Celine got into bed, downed a lethal cocktail of pills and vodka, and never woke up. But when Maggie discovers a scandalous photograph in a lock box hidden in Celine’s apartment, she begins asking questions. Questions about the man Celine fell in love with. The man she never told anyone about, not even Maggie. The man Celine believed would change her life.

Until he became her ruin.

On the hunt for evidence that will force the police to reopen the case, Maggie uncovers more than she bargained for about Celine’s private life—and inadvertently puts herself on the radar of a killer. A killer who will stop at nothing to keep his crimes undiscovered.

Surprising, riveting, your next favorite read by K.A. Tucker; if you didn’t know, I’m talking about He Will Be My Ruin. If there is one thing I can guarantee about this novel, it is that you will truly be saying #ISuspectEveryone. He Will Be My Ruin had me guessing, and then second-guessing, EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. The new discoveries and twists, kept leading to more questions about what really happened to Celine and who was she really?

K.A. Tucker was already one of my favorites before, but- wow, has she outdone herself with this one. HWBMR is unlike anything K.A. Tucker has written,  and possibly anything I’ve ever read, and I could not be more in love with it.

To put things in perspective for you: I read a good 75% of this novel while on the elliptical and at one point I almost fell off because I didn’t realize I was actually on a freaking elliptical. Thanks for that, Kathleen! 😉

I’m overjoyed that I got the chance to read HWBMR because this novel, is without a doubt, going to be on my list of favorite mystery-suspense-thrillers, right next to YOU by Caroline Kepnes and probably my next read, Hidden Bodies.

HWBMR was a book I couldn’t put down- times 100 and knowing what I know now, I will definitely be re-reading it an analyzing every single detail like the wannabe-detective I am. Maggie Sparkes has my heart with her wit and sass, and the immense amount of loyalty in her heart.

Somehow, HWBMR combines the seductive and the horrifying, and manages to keep on shocking you. You’ll feel the urge to scream, cry, and even laugh while reading, but more importantly, you’ll be on edge and suspecting everyone. You’ll look like this:
