Book Reviews

FAVORITE READS of January – June 2017

Hello book lovers! This year I am doing something I have never done before. I am listing my favorite reads of January ’17  – June ’17  because there are just too many amazing books out there for me to just make one list in December. Plus…I tend to be very forgetful and miss like 1/4 of my favorite reads from early on in the year. So I hope you enjoy this list and if you haven’t picked up one of these books I can convince you to do so!

Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven

While I know that this book did not come out this year, I did read it at the beginning of the year and I fell so hard for it. It was filled with angst, drama, and a total page turner. If you’re a fan of angsty New Adult , you HAVE to read this  book!

Anything You Can Do by R.S. Grey

Rachel seriously never disappoints when it comes to romantic comedies that are equal parts hilarious and swoon-worthy. Anything You Can Do had me all sorts of giddy and excited while reading and the banter(!!). My full review does a better job of explaining my love (mostly because their are gifs) so make sure to check it out here!

The Animal Under the Fur by E.J. Mellow

“The Animal Under the Fur is the perfect blend of action, suspense, angst, banter, and chemistry.” – direct quote from my review. Before reading this book I had been on a search for the perfect assassin-romance novel and I found it! It’s here guys! This is IT!

How To Date A Douchebag: The Studying Hours by Sara Ney

NEW ADULT PERFECTION! I guess you can tell I’m seriously into the banter, hate-you-but-also-attracted-to-you sort of vibe because that’s the vibe this book has going on. This book was laugh-out-loud hilarious and just such a feel good novel that has all those NA college vibes. I’m definitely picking it up for a re-read soon!

The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison

This book strayed a bit from my normal go-to genre, but as someone who loves crime thriller shows like Criminal Minds, and after reading this book being compared to an episode, I knew I had to pick it up. This book is not for the faint of heart and it definitely has moments that made me cringe, but the story is so compelling and I could not put it down. I had to know what was going to happen next and that is something I seriously enjoyed. 11/10 recommend! FULL REVIEW

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

My queen, Mrs. Reid. This book is unlike any other book Taylor has written, and like her others, it still manages to be one of my favorite books of the year. Her writing is exquisite and she executes a story perfectly. This book is full of twists and surprises and I did not see a lot of it coming (like any of it)! It’s a must read! -> My Quick Thoughts on the book!

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

Can I just say this was soooo bittersweet. This series is one of my favorites EVER and reading this book was both wonderful and terrible because it is the last in this series. This series is so amazing and I seriously could not recommend it enough- whether you like fantasy or not, because I did not read any fantasy before reading this series. The conclusion to this series was perfect and I cannot wait for more from Maas set in this incredible world she’s created.

Public Relations by Katie Heaney & Arianna Rebolini

This proud PR major could not have been more proud of her major after reading this book. This book seriously had me contemplating going into celebrity PR while reading it (and not just because of the romance LOL). I loved every aspect of this book! It was hilarious and such a fun read and I could not put it down. It also secured my love of Harry Styles just a bit more… 😉 If you’re looking for a funny, enjoyable read that hits the spot in terms of writing and plot, this is it!

Bright Side by Kim Holden

So I am very aware that this book came out a long time ago, but I had kept putting off reading it because of how many people I heard saying it was absolutely heart-breaking. Now I’m not going to lie to you and say this book won’t make you cry, but it is seriously so worth the read! It is beautiful, happy, and sad all rolled into one and I would not take back one moment of reading it.

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

Fan of banter? Pranks? Attempts at total annihilation? An unexpected love affair? The Hating Game has it all and more! This is one of the best office hate-to-love books I’ve read and if you’re a fan of witty dialogue and laughing out loud, you will not be able to put this book down.

Damaged Like Us by Krista and Becca Ritchie

I finished this book literally the day before finishing up this post, but I just had to include it because I have to spread my love for this book and the Addicted series! Read my full review here to get a better idea of why I love this book!

Well I hope you guys enjoyed this round-up! Let me know what you think of my picks in the comments here or on my Insta post! xx
