Bully by Penelope Douglas

Book description:

My name is Tate. He doesn’t call me that, though. He would never refer to me so informally, if he referred to me at all. No, he’ll barely even speak to me.

But he still won’t leave me alone.

We were best friends once. Then he turned on me and made it his mission to ruin my life. I’ve been humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through high school. His pranks and rumors got more sadistic as time wore on, and I made myself sick trying to stay out of his way. I even went to France for a year, just to avoid him.

But I’m done hiding from him now, and there’s no way in hell I’ll allow him to ruin my senior year. He might not have changed, but I have. It’s time to fight back.

I’m not going to let him bully me anymore.

***This novel contains adult/mature young adult situations. It is only suitable for ages 18+ due to language, violence, and sexual situations.

Giselle’s Review:

My love for this book is still strong as hell!

Tate and Jared’s story is entertaining, heart-wrenching, addicting, frustrating, and re-reading it after reading Rival was the best choice I ever made. <3

I love these characters SO MUCH. They are all so unique, witty, and perfectly flawed.

“Do you know what this is?” I took my middle finger and patted the corner of my eye with it. “It’s me, wiping away the last tear you’ll ever get.”

Penelope Douglas’ writing is absolutely flawless. The connection she creates between her characters is incredibly unique. And the connection you form with these characters is on a whole other level.

This book pulls out all your feelings. Which is one of the things I love about Penelope’s writing. She’ll have you hating one second and loving the next. On that subject, I had such a huge love/hate relationship with Jared. Dear lord, did that man aggravate the crap out of me!!! I wanted to sock him in the face so many times, but then other times I didn’t and ugh- this is what I mean by emotional roller-coaster!!

Since I read Bully so long ago, I had forgotten some of the details so it was almost like reading it for the first time. I had completely forgotten how involved Madoc was in Tate and Jared’s story, so seeing him again after reading Rival was totally awesome! Even though he was quite the asshole in high school and deserved every punch and kick, you can’t help but love him just a little bit. 😉

Bully is the first novel in the Fall Away series and is a MUST MUST READ! If you plan on reading Rival (which you should), please please please read Bully first (I’m making this a must!)! You do not want to miss out on Jared and Tate’s story, especially because you get to see more of them in Rival.

Now I’m off to read Until You, Jared’s story, because I actually haven’t read it yet! *gasps in shock* I know I’m terrible, but I can at least admit it and I plan to remedy that sad fact right now! 🙂
